Addiction is a complex condition that can manifest in a variety of ways; substance misuse, gambling and eating disorders.
The impacts of addiction are widespread and can be disruptive and harmful to our daily lives. Addiction can be difficult to understand, particularly
for those who do not have the own lived experience.
This session will explore how addictions develop, what the signs and symptoms are, and strategies to break the cycle of addiction, rehabilitate
and maintain personal recovery or support others in their recovery.
• Understand the nature of addiction; the physical and emotional dependence and mental processes that occur
• Understand why recovering from addiction is challenging
• Develop skills and strategies to help achieve and maintain recovery
